Palm Springs

Oh how the desert calls to me. I love Palm Springs. There is just something about how blue the sky is, white the clouds are, and how it just feels like you could stretch your arms out without smacking the guy next to you ( it gets a little tight in LA). We have been coming here for years transitioning from couples escape, to babymoon, to well… baby vacay. It all works. The Ace Hotel has been a favorite because they are a one stop shop. A great pool with an awesome view of the mountains- the way the light is filtered makes you feel like you’re on a set. The restaurant does the trick if you don’t feel like venturing away from your chaise. If you’re into stargazing the large cushions by the pool make a great place to lay back and and look for shooting stars. There are fire pits placed around the property or do one better and get a room with a private patio and fireplace. This has been a new parent trick of ours, a way to enjoy “getting out” of the room.

A few of our favorite spots…

The Living Desert is a great way to spend a few hours away from the pool. It gets very hot so plan according. They have a shuttle that goes around the park  (it only picks up every 15 minutes so it may not be worth the hop on hop off).

Natures Health Foods and Café is great to grab lunch or for your staples. There is also a Whole Foods in Celestial City.

If you feel like venturing a little further check out Shields Date Farm in Indio. There is a garden, a store filled with dried fruit, jams, a date served anyway imaginable. They are also known for their date shakes.

Rooster and Pig is a must stop if you like Vietnamese food. They do not take reservations, they open at 5 pm, and once the place is full there will be a wait until closing (around 9ish). Great fresh food and drinks.
